De-pacifying Liam...

We have had a good week and Liam is getting ready for his first day of school next Tuesday.

We decided it was time for him to spend a little time with other little ones in a school environment (rather than just play-dates) and to give him a chance to adjust in anticipation of his baby sister arriving in December.

In preparation for school, and because it was time, we decided to stop letting him have his pacifier (which he calls his "ba ba"...although we have no idea why) today.   For those of you who have seen his attachment to it, you can appreciate that it is going to be a rough few days for both him and us!

This morning we all said goodbye and in place of his 'ba ba' he got 2 new little cars, a dinosaur and a lollypop (which are for very very special occasions indeed!).   So far he has been doing okay, but nap time and then bed time tonight will be the real test of how he is surviving without it.

I feel bad for the poor little guy because he has grown attached to it more out of habit than comfort, and any habit is hard to break 'cold turkey'.   Wish him (and us) luck!

Weekend in Denver...

We spent the weekend with my cousin Rachel, from Sydney Australia, and had a great time. She left today to visit my parents in Toronto, and then she will return to our place for a few days before her return trip home. We got some nice pictures of all of us but they are on her camera, not mine! (for once!)

Liam went swimming both days and really enjoyed himself.

And he even tried out his new 'swim' life jacket. He didn't hate it but I have to admit that he didn't love the life jacket experience either :)

Settled back into Denver...

It's the end of the week now and we've all settled back into life in Denver.   We got the house in order, caught up on our mail, re-stocked the fridge etc.

Liam is still enjoying "his" toys and being back in "Liam's House" as he says, but we figure it's because the toys are all new to him after being away for a long time, and of course he doesn't have to share with other little ones.

He also got reacquainted his two best friends in the neighborhood.  "Sharing" amongst the trio of 2 year-olds is a bit of a challenge, but for the most part they enjoy each others company.

Back in Denver...and Liam and Roxie

We are now back in Denver after being away for a long time.  Liam settled in well and was able to say "my toys", "my house", "my chair" and "my <you name it>" while exploring the house.

While in Jersey Liam seemed to enjoy playing with Roxie, the Baran's dog (she joined the family about 4 months ago)....although he will have to settle on playing with her in Jersey, because we have no plans to get a dog! :)

Together Again...

We are all together again back in New Jersey.  Annette arrived today from Toronto and I arrived yesterday from my business trip to California.    Liam was in great form this evening and we had a great time.

Here are a few final pictures from the cottage (Annette doesn't take as many photo's as I do!)

At the cottage...

We arrived at the cottage on Wednesday after a long trek from Toronto (Annette's flight was delayed from NJ) but it was worth the effort.
