Starting the weekend with friends

Heather and Joel had us over to their place for a BBQ last night - everyone had a great time.

Milestone: Liam Potty Trained (well....almost)!

Over the past few months Liam has been using the potty, but typically only when he felt like it. He still wore a diaper and was happy to make good use of it anytime he wanted, but he did so most often when he was 'busy' playing or otherwise engaged.

That's all changed this week! On Tuesdsay of this week we started having him wear underwear and reminded him to make frequent trips to the potty. He has done outstandingly well with only a few accidents here and there. Although he still has another few days before we can declare him 'potty trained' I think he is pretty much there. Well done Liam!

(footnote: although we didn't really bribe him, we did encourage the right behaviour by creating a 'potty poster' which he got to add stickers too each time he used the potty. At first it was great but now the sticker idea has pretty much lost it's appeal)

Happy 65th Birthday to Grandma Smith

Today we are celebrating my Mom's (Jan) 65 birthday!  We went to the Aquarium this morning (we diverted from the planned trip to the Zoo due to rain) and had a great time.

In the evening we had rack of lamb (cooked on the BBQ) and then a cake - which both Grandma and Liam enjoyed together!

Memorial Weekend 2009

We are enjoying a beautiful Memorial Day weekend and spending lots of time outdoors, as long as the rain stays away. Grandma and Grandpa Smith were nice enough to paint the garage doors along with their little helper, Liam. Ross and I celebrated our anniversary last night with a nice dinner out downtown. This morning, we all went to the park where Liam fed the ducks and Canada geese and then waded in the stream with mommy...

This morning we had fun at the park and enjoyed the beautiful weather! We had to leave in a hurry because Liam got wet in the sand box. For the rest of the summer, we will remember a change of clothes and extra shoes. He drove home in just his diaper  ; 0 )

A morning Nature Walk...

We all went for a hike to Roxborough State Park and saw lots of wildlife.   Below is a pretty brave little fox that came really close to us.

Liam thought it was pretty cool to see a bull snake...and fortunately my new camera has a zoom lens!

Liam rode in the hiker backpack most of the way, but also walked with Grandma and Grandpa some of the way too.

After our walk we went to Red Robin, Liam's favorite restaurant (for the games they have, not the food I suspect).   Great weather today!
