Valley of the butterfly's and Colossus of Rhodes

We rented a car and had a good day driving around the Island, in particular to the amazing Valley of the butterfly's and to see one of the 7 ancient wonders of the world...the Colossus of Rhodes !

We rented this cute little car, which fit us all just fine.   It probably would have fit in the trunk of our old truck, an Toyota Sequoia.  It was stick shift but fortunately driving on is like riding a bike, so I had no issue even after driving an automatic for the past 10 yrs in the USA.

The picture above is the site of the Colossus of Rhodes.
The Colossus of Rhodes was a statue of the Greek titan-god of the sun Helios, erected in the city of Rhodes, on the Greek island of the same name, by Chares of Lindos in 280 BC. It is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.  The statues thumb was said to be the size of a man!  Must have indeed been colossal!
