Day 2 of Yellowstone National Park

We woke up to a foggy morning after it rained during the night. It made for chilly weather at first and very cool views. Our first stop was at the Fishing Bridge where we took a short walk and the kids found a worm(Squirmy-first wildlife sighting of the day. Our next stop was along the river at LeHardy Rapids. It was still chilly but we walked along as the sun started to warm things up. The kids threw rocks in the river and Ross threw chunks of snow and we watched them flow and melt dow the river. We then continued on the road down to the Hayden Valley which is stunning and we saw lots of bison grazing along the water and birds in the field. We then went to the Mud Volcano and saw a few thermal and bubbling pools. It was stinky but very cool and steamy.

We then drove to the Lower falls and did a hike to get a closer look at the huge waterfall. We then drove all the way to the Tower/Roosevelt section of the park where there is another cool waterfall. We stopped for lunch at a pull off pretty high up with some snow still around. We can down the mountain and went to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone overlook. It was larger than expected!

The drive back to the cabin was exciting! We saw more bison, and we pulled off to check out bears in the distance only seen through binoculars but as we drove further.....we watched a bison then Annette spotted something furry not too far from it. A GRIZZLY, so exciting! We watched him for a bit walk around, eat some bugs and grass and enjoyed watching the grizzly and bison stare each other down ; )

After such an exciting day, we celebrated with a dinner at the Lake Hotel. It took a long time for a food but we had fun discussing our day. As we walked back to the cabin along the lake, we saw a bison pee and took some nice photos at the waterfront(ice front).
