Day 4 of Yellowstone National Park and West Yellowstone

We woke up and packed up the truck to set off to West Yellowstone! We started our drive and stopped in at the Artists paint pots with more pretty thermal pools and springs. It was too hot to walk to far! The drive was pretty with bison in the fields. We stopped at the Gibbon Falls and stretched our legs to cool off.

Our picnic spot this day was awesome. We chose a place just passed the falls along the Gibbon River. it was just us, the river and lunch. We all enjoyed a relaxing lunch and a break. Who knew throwing rocks in the river was so calming ; )

We headed to West Yellowstone, just a few miles outside the park. It was a gorgeous drive along the Madison River. More bison sightings, this time a huge herd in the field and another baby. Leaving the park felt strange but we reentered civilization...We went to the locally run Grizzly and Wolf discovery center then out for ice cream.

We checked into the Stagecoach Inn, got cleaned up and couldn't wait for a real dinner! Burgers and pizza were delicious. All early to bed after a walk through town and a visit to the supermarket.
